SUMMER IN BOURNEMOUTH

Bournemouth is situated on the chalk cliffs of the South Coast and described as ‘The Garden City of the South’ with its acres of parks and gardens with traffic free promenades.  It also boasts seven miles of clean sandy beaches, excellent shopping and entertainment for all ages.

Your hotel The Sands Hotel is ideally located on the West Cliff.  The town centre and pier are a short walk away, buses stop nearby the hotel regularly.  There is a lift, although some steps may occur.  All rooms are en-suite with flat screen TV and tea/coffee making facilities.  There will be entertainment most evenings. 

Day 1:   We make our way down to Bournemouth making comfort stops en-route and a stop for lunch in the county town of Reading before arriving at our hotel in time to relax before dinner

Day 2:   Today we begin with a scenic tour of the New Forest calling in at Burley, Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst before stopping in Lymington on our way back to Bournemouth

Day 3:   Spend the day at leisure in Bournemouth.  Take a walk around the gardens, enjoy the sandy beaches or browse the shops and many other attractions

Day 4:    After breakfast we make our way to Beaulieu Estate, home of the world famous National Motor Museum, where you can also visit the Palace House and Gardens, the 13th Century Abbey and Monastic Life exhibition, with so much to see a full day can easily be spent here

Day 5:   We bid farewell to Bournemouth and make our way home, stopping for comfort breaks and lunch in Winchester before arriving in our local area late afternoon

ISLE OF MAN – ‘THE TREASURED ISLE’

The Isle of Man is a hidden treasure in the Irish Sea around 60 miles offshore.  Although only a small Island it has big scenery and its own unique culture with well preserved heritage sites, classic railways and coastal resorts.

The Chesterhouse Hotel is situated close to the Loch Promenade in central Douglas and is close to the Isle of Man ferry terminal, local bars, restaurants and the main retail district.  All rooms are en-suite with showers.  There is a lift to all floors, however there are some steps on the access route between the lift and adjacent corridors.

Please note this hotel is less suitable for guests requiring wheelchair, mobility assistance or street level access.

Day 1:    Leaving local our area we make our way to Heysham with comfort stops en-route to take the ferry to Douglas arriving in time for your evening meal   

Day 2:   After breakfast we board the Isle of Man Railway taking you through Manx countryside to the popular resort of Port Erin where you will have some free time.  We will then continue along the coast, with wonderful views of the Calf of Man, home to colonies of birds and marine life, stopping at Castletown before returning to our hotel

Day 3:   Enjoy a free day in Douglas.  Take a walk along the Victorian promenade, see the working harbour and shops or maybe visit the Manx Museum

Day 4:  Today we follow the Isle of Man’s famous TT course stopping at Ramsey for our scenic journey on the Manx Electric Railway to Laxey, continuing onto Summit where we climb the islands highest point aboard the Snaefell Mountain Railway.  Once back at Laxey we board the coach back to our hotel.

Day 5:   After an early breakfast we catch the ferry back to Heysham and continue our journey home with comfort breaks en-route

Join us for this enthralling military spectacle which draws thousands of people year after year with its magical atmosphere, enhanced by the beautiful surroundings of the floodlit Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle.  Showcasing music, dance and displays from around the world. 

The Erskine Bridge Hotel & Spa is set in 18 acres of parkland with views of the Erskine Bridge, Kilpatrick Hills and River Clyde.  All rooms are en-suite with tea & coffee making facilities, TV, hairdryer and free WiFi.  There is a lift, but some steps may occur.  There is an indoor swimming pool and sauna which can be used.

Day 1:  Departing north we head towards Scotland stopping for comfort breaks and lunch en-route before arriving at our hotel in Erskine in good time for dinner

Day 2:  After a leisurely breakfast we travel to Edinburgh where you can spend the day exploring at your leisure the cities many guises, just stroll around and soak up the atmosphere or take one of the many local buses and visit the Royal Yacht Britannia or the Palace of Holyroodhouse.  Rejoining the coach early evening to take you to Edinburgh Castle for the evening performance of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.  (Please note: there will be steps to your seats). Returning to our hotel late evening

Day 3:   After breakfast we leave Scotland with a stop Gretna Green and other comfort breaks on the way home arriving back in our local area early evening.

SHANKLIN - ISLE OF WIGHT

Shanklin is beautifully situated on the cliffs bordering the South East coast of the Isle of Wight and is sheltered to the west by high-lying downs.  The town is split with the old village lying on the cliff top and the new village nestled close to the sea.  The two are connected by a cliff lift.

Your hotel, the Shanklin Hotel is one of the best know hotels on the island and is situated in Shanklin town with superb views from its magnificent Starlite restaurant.  Shanklin Old Village is a few minutes’ walk away and the beach is accessible via the nearby cliff lift.  All rooms are en-suite with tea/coffee making facilities, telephone, hairdryer and TV.  A lift serves most rooms however, some steps may occur. There will be entertainment most evenings.  The hotel also has an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool and sauna.

Day 1:   Departing from our local pick up points, our journey will take us to the south coast for our crossing of the Solent by ferry, then onto our hotel in good time for dinner.

Day 2:   After a leisurely breakfast, we travel to Godshill Village with its charming thatched cottages, model village, gift shops and tea rooms.  Then onto Brightstone, where an interesting stop can be made at the Isle of Wight Pearl.  Finally, we visit Alum Bay famous for its multi coloured sand cliffs and breath-taking views of the Needles and lighthouse

Day 3:   This morning we go to Carisbrooke Castle best known as the place where King Charles I was imprisoned prior to his trial.  We spend the afternoon in Ryde, the largest town on the island with miles of golden sandy beaches

Day 4:   Day at leisure in Shanklin to wander around this lovely resort

Day 5:   After breakfast we depart on our homeward journey via ferry, with a lunch stop in Winchester en-route back to our local area late afternoon

Day 1:   We leave our local area heading to our hotel in Huby just outside York.  Calling in at Chesterfield for some free time and lunch, before reaching the hotel mid/late afternoon.

Day 2:   Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before spending the day in York.  You may wish to visit the Railway Museum, the famous York Minster, York’s Sweet Story, take a river cruise or just enjoy the shopping in the cobbled streets

Day 3:   Today we have a day at leisure in Bridlington, one of Yorkshire’s best kept secrets, a chance for you to explore this charming town.  You can walk along the miles of level promenade and enjoy the seaside atmosphere of this traditional resort

Day 4:    After breakfast we make our way to Castle Howard House and Gardens, one of England’s grandest private residences situated in beautiful grounds, the setting for Brideshead Revisited.  There is also a charming selection of courtyard shops, restaurants and cafés, a farm shop and garden centre

Day 5:    After breakfast we must make our way home with a comfort break en-route and stopping at Boundary Mills Shopping & Garden Centre for some free time

LIVERPOOL & MANCHESTER SHIP CANAL CRUISE

Liverpool Days Inn is in the heart of the City’s business district just a short walk from Liverpool One, Albert Dock and the Echo Arena.  We are offering bed and breakfast at this hotel, you are however, welcome to have your evening meal at the hotel, just book at reception, or there are many restaurants within walking distance from the hotel.  All rooms are en-suite with TV, air conditioning, tea/coffee making facilities and hairdryer.  There is a lift to all rooms, but some steps may occur.

Day 2:   Enjoy the day exploring this famous City.  Liverpool’s Cathedral is the largest in the UK, head down to the Mersey for a river cruise, or take a guided tour on the open top bus.  Of course, there are many Beatles attractions and there is always Liverpool One for shopping.

Day 3:   Today we go the Liverpool Pier head for the Manchester Ship Canal Cruise to Salford Quays, one of Britain’s most historic waterways.  The cruise lasts 6 hours taking in spectacular scenery with live commentary along the way revealing insights into facts, history and dramas, going through locks and under bridges which have not changed for over 100 years.  There are excellent facilities on board including a licensed bar and refreshments.  Your coach will be waiting at Salford Quays to take you back to the hotel

Day 4:    After breakfast we travel to Oswaldtwistle Mills, which is an award-winning shopping village in Lancashire with over 100 retailers all under one roof.  We then continue to Southport for the afternoon  

Day 5:   Departing after breakfast we start our homeward journey.  We head for the northern end of the Peak District and climb Snake Pass and via the Derwent and Ladybower Reservoirs, on through Hathersage and stopping in Chesterfield for lunch before continuing our journey home

FOLKESTONE - KENT

Folkestone is a port town on the English Channel, in Kent, south-east England. The town lies on the southern edge of the North Downs at a valley between two cliffs. It was an important harbour and shipping port for most of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Best Western Clifton Hotel, is situated in the centre of the famous Leas and offers spectacular views of the English Channel, The Clifton Hotel is a traditional Victorian style hotel dating back to 1864.  All rooms are comfortably furnished with Wi-Fi, TV, radio, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities

Day 1:   Leaving the local area we travel south, making comfort stops and a stop for lunch in Maidstone, before continuing onto our Hotel in Folkestone

Day 2:   After a breakfast we take a coastal tour, stopping at the seaside town of Deal for free time before reaching Broadstairs for the afternoon.        

Day 3:   Spend the day at leisure in Folkestone, taking a walk along the Marine Parade where you will find the funicular Leas Lift (one of the oldest water-balanced cliff lifts in England). A ride in the Lift will take you up to the relaxing Leas promenade for some fantastic views of the coastline. Visit the Old High Street where there are many galleries of the burgeoning artist’s quarter.

Day 4:   Today we visit Leeds Castle, acclaimed as the most romantic castle in England.  It was originally a manor for the Saxon Royal family, possibly as early as the reign of Ethelbert IV (856-860).  

Day 5:   We must leave the South coast and make our way home, making comfort stops with lunch in Rochester before continuing home.

THE ENGLISH RIVIERA - TORQUAY

Torquay is one of Britain’s most famous and popular resorts situated on the unspoilt coastline known as the ‘English Riviera’ because of its mild climate, attractive gardens, palm tree lined seafront and magnificent horseshoe shaped bay.

TLH Carlton Hotel, is part of the TLH Resort in the heart of Torquay within walking distance of the town centre and beach.  All rooms are en-suite with tea/coffee making facilities, there is a lift to most rooms although some steps may occur.

Day 1:   We depart for the west country, making comfort stops and having lunch in Swindon before reaching the hotel in good time for the evening meal  

Day 2:   After breakfast we have a tour of Torbay’s prettiest towns and villages including Paignton, Babbacombe, picturesque Cockington village and Brixham enjoying some free time along the way      

Day 3:   Enjoy a leisurely day in the bustling seaside town of Torquay  

Day 4:   We leave the hotel after breakfast for a short visit to Saltash, known as the gateway to Cornwall as it lies just across the River Tamar, we will see the Royal Albert Bridge, Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s famous railway bridge across the river completed in 1859.  There is a pleasant shopping high street in the heart of the town or you could relax and enjoy a coffee before we travel back to Devon.  We spend the afternoon in Plymouth, which has one of the most beautiful natural harbours from where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for the new world in 1620.

Day 5:   After breakfast we must begin our journey home making comfort breaks and a stop for lunch along the way.

DUNOON IN SCOTLAND

Set in Scotland’s first National Park, Dunoon is a traditional seaside resort with marvelous sea views and plenty of amenities but also has some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland.  It has lovely gardens, the remains of a castle, a four mile promenade and a 19th Century pier with panoramic views across the Clyde.

Our hotel, The Selbourne is superbly situated looking south across the Clyde with pleasant lawns reaching down to the promenade and the water’s edge.  All bedrooms are en-suite and have tea/coffee making facilities, internal telephone, hairdryer and TV with radio channels.  There are some ground floor rooms and a lift services almost all rooms, however, some steps may occur.  There is a Bar lounge with dance floor where entertainment is provided most evenings.  The ground floor areas include a TV lounge, bar lounge, quite lounge and games room

Day 1:   We leave the local area and head north with comfort breaks and a stop for lunch before reaching Gourock to take the short ferry across the Firth of Clyde to Dunoon.

Day 2:   Today we take a scenic highland drive along the shores of Lock Eck and Loch Fyne stopping in Inverary and then onto Oban for lunch.  We make our way back to the hotel via Glen Lochy and Glen Falloch and along the northern end of Loch Lomand  

Day 3:   Spend a leisurely day in Dunoon, where you can take a walk along the promenade, visit the main street filled with shops selling an array of goods. 

Day 4:   After a leisurely breakfast we make our way to Colintraive Community Garden and Heritage Centre, where the garden was created for BBC’s Beachgrove Garden programme. Follow a range of paths through the colourful flowerbeds which include several exotic species.  The Heritage Centre tells the story of the village and its farming heritage

Day 5:    Mid-morning we go to Benmore Botanic Gardens, set in 120 acres and world famous for its collection of flowering trees and shrubs.  Returning to the hotel in plenty of time to relax before dinner.    

Day 6:   Enjoy your Scottish breakfast before we begin our journey home, with the short ferry crossing over the Clyde then continuing on our way, making comfort stops and a break for lunch

TENBY – SCENIC SOUTH WALES

ST. HELIER, JERSEY

Jersey is the most southerly island of the British Isles and the largest of the Channel Islands, located 100 miles south of mainland Britain yet only 14 miles of the coast of France.  British, yet with a strong continental influence, an ideal holiday destination without the problems of currency.  Rich in natural beauty and history, Jersey enjoys a mild climate where the surrounding Atlantic Ocean dominates the landscape with majestic cliffs, sandy beaches and rocky coves.  Visit its magnificent medieval castles, meander along the endless cliff top walks or relax in the beautiful gardens of Howard Davies or Coronation Park. Shopping is a real delight in the traffic free precinct of St. Helier.

Days 2- 5:   Enjoy the hotel facilities, shopping in St. Helier and relax on the vast sandy beaches or if you wish to explore the Island a courier will be available to advise you of optional tours and excursions.  You may wish to visit the world-famous Jersey Zoo, the War Tunnels or follow the narrow paths and lanes that will take you through charming villages to sites of great natural beauty.

Day 6:   Depart by coach to the harbour for your return crossing.  Our coach will be waiting for you at Poole, with comfort stops en-route we arrive back in our local area by late evening.

Situated on the East Yorkshire coast, Scarborough was Britain’s first seaside resort and is still as popular now as it was in its Victorian heyday.  Scarborough has all the ingredients for a classic beachside break from the rugged rocky headland and colourful seaside traditions of the South Bay to the bright beach huts of the award-winning North Bay.

The Delmont Hotel is situated with some views of the North Bay in this popular town of Scarborough.  All rooms are en-suite with freeview TV, internal telephone and tea/coffee making facilities.  There is a lift, although some steps may occur.  Some evening entertainment will be provided.

Day 1:   We begin our journey north stopping in Chesterfield for lunch and making comfort breaks en-route before arriving at the hotel

Day 2:   A day in Bridlington.  With two beaches and a picturesque harbour which is a hive of activity with fishing boats and pleasure cruises along the coast.  If you head away from the beach to the Old Town you will find traditional pubs, antique shops, art galleries and tearooms.

Day 3:   Today we travel inland to Pickering for a short visit before joining the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a journey over the wonderful scenery to the coastal town of Whitby.  Here you have the chance to enjoy the famous fish & chips and take a look around the old town and harbour.

Day 4:    A day at leisure in Scarborough

Day 5:   After breakfast we commence our journey home, stopping at Boundry Mills, Grantham for free time and lunch before continuing home.

You can enjoy lunch in the Terrace Café, located in the Banqueting Hall before spending the afternoon in the picturesque Cotswold villages of Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold.

Day 3:   Day at leisure in Gloucester, where you could visit Beatrix Potter’s House of the Tailor of Gloucester, the Historic Docks, St. Oswald’s Priory, or just take time exploring, whatever you choose this should be a very enjoyable day.   

Day 4:   After breakfast we head to Hidcote Manor Garden, famous for its rare trees, shrubs and unusual plants from all over the world.  After lunch we spend time in the pretty small town of Chipping Campden where you find the 400 year old Market Hall, the Woolstaplers Hall built in 1340, the old Silk Mill and Almshouses.  Visit the little shops and tea rooms lining the High Street

Day 5:  After breakfast we travel to Stratford-upon-Avon for lunch and free time before heading home.

Day 3:   Our tour today takes us to Bamburgh Castle, once the royal seat of the Kings of Northumbria, it has stood guard over this beautiful coastline for over 1,400 years.  Spanning nine acres of land on its rocky plateau, it is one of the largest inhabited castles in the country.  Mystery awaits as the past comes to life with its dark tales of royal rebellion and bloody battles.  Take a trip back through time with 14 rooms and over 3,000 items on display, ranging from arms and armour to fine porcelain, china, artworks and furniture.  There is plenty for you to explore and see

Day 4:   Today after breakfast, we take a ride across the Durham Dales, stopping off in the historic market town of Stanhope with its cobbled market place and standing on the banks of the River Wear.  We stop here for a short break at the Durham Dales Visitor Centre.  Then on through an area designated as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (The North Pennine Region) to Alston, reputed to be the highest market town in England.  After a short stop here, we will continue onto Hexham for the rest of the afternoon before returning to our hotel in Tynemouth

Day 5:   We start our journey back south after breakfast, with stops for coffee and lunch before arriving back in our local area.

The 3 Star Queens Hotel is perfectly situated on the seafront between Central and South Piers, a short walk from the Pleasure Beach and the spectacular Sandcastle Water Park.  All rooms are en-suite with tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, internal telephone and TV.  There are lifts to all floors, although there are several stairs to some rooms.  The hotel has a Fitness centre with gym, sauna, solarium and indoor pool.  There will also be entertainment most evenings.

Day 1:   Leaving our local area we make our way North taking comfort stops en-route before reaching our hotel to start the festivities. Evening dinner is followed by entertainment.

Day 2:   Day at leisure in Blackpool, where you can take a refreshing walk along the promenade, visit the iconic Tower or catch a tram to take in the resorts famous landmarks. This evening we board our coach for our Illuminations tour.  Nearly 400,000 lights make up a fascinating array of feature displays that glitter along the seafront. Christmas dinner followed by dancing and entertainment.   

Day 3:   Enjoy a relaxing Sunday morning, there will be lunch for you at the hotel.  After lunch we take a short journey to the neighbouring towns of Lytham and St. Annes-on-the-Sea, which have grown together and now form a seaside resort.  Heading back to the hotel for Sunday dinner and an evening of optional Fancy Dress.  

Day 4:   After breakfast we leave Blackpool and stop for lunch at Trentham Shopping Village before arriving home late afternoon.

Your hotel for this Festive break is the Prince Regent Hotel which is a grade II listed situated on the seafront of Weymouth’s Georgian Esplanade with magnificent views of the bay and coastline.  Squeeze in all the best bits of Christmas and New Year period.  Plenty of fun and laughter for all.   Bedrooms are en-suite with either shower or bath with shower, flat screen TV and tea/coffee making facilities.  There is a lift to most rooms, although some steps may occur.

Day 1:   We leave our local area travelling towards Weymouth, with comfort and lunch stop before reaching our hotel.  Evening Dinner is followed by Bingo and live entertainment. 

Day 2:   Today we take a tour of the local area.  Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings is followed by mince pies, coffee and a surprise appearance by a very special guest.  After which there will be Prize Bingo and live entertainment 

Day 3:   Day at leisure to explore Weymouth.  Dinner with all the trimmings is followed by Prize Bingo and live entertainment.

Set in the centre of Bath, alongside the stunning architecture of the Roman Baths and the impressive Bath Abbey, the Christmas market consist of over 200 individual wooden chalet style stalls.  From handmade crafts, unique jewellery and decorations to locally produced food and drink, you will find it easy to buy ‘something different’.

Your hotel the Limpley Stoke Hotel is just a short drive away from the delightful village of Limpley Stoke set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, perfect accommodation just outside the historic city of Bath.  All rooms have modern facilities including flat screen TV’s, complementary beverages and free Wifi throughout. The bedrooms are located on three floors and a lift/elevator offers access to the first two floors with stair access to all three. Due to the original architecture of our Georgian period property all floors have varying levels and do require some access via steps/stairs. Assistance is always readily available.
