The Federation House Hotel in Surrey is a stunning architectural venue in enviable location in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Surrey Hills. Day 1:   Leaving our local area we begin our weekend with a visit to Denbies Wine Estate were we take a vineyard train tour to some of the most beautiful viewing points in the vineyard before moving indoors for a tour of the working winery finishing off in the cellar where you will be guided through a tasting of Denbies classic wine. We then travel onto our hotel where you have time to relax before your delicious dinner where a wine expert will pair a delicious wine with each course and explain its history and the reasons he has chosen that particular wine. At the end of the meal you will be able to sample more wines and chat to the expert and purchase the wine of your choice at a special price.

Day 2:   Today, after breakfast we visit Stanlake Park Wine Estate where you will visit some of the vines inside the walled garden (weather permitting) before being taken through the winery to see the wine making process. You will see the grape-pressing area, the fermentation tanks, the barrel room, the ‘fizz’ room, and the bottling line the tour includes the tasting of 6 wines. We make a stop in the historic Cathedral city of St Albans for a lunch break before travelling back to our local area.

ISLE OF MAN - ISLAND GETAWAY

The Isle of Man is a hidden treasure in the Irish Sea and is a unique self-governing kingdom. The 33-mile-long by 13-mile-wide island boasts its own Parliament, laws,  traditions and cultures. With well-preserved heritage sites, classic railways and coastal resorts.

The Rutland Hotel enjoys stunning sea views over Douglas Bay and is only a short walk into the town centre. There are 9 steps from street level into the hotel but there is a lift to all floors although there may be some steps between bedroom corridors.  All rooms have a TV, tea and coffee making facilities and en-suite bathrooms with a hairdryer.

Day 1:   Leaving our local area we make our way to Heysham with comfort stops en-route to take the ferry to Douglas arriving at our hotel in time for your evening meal.

Day 2:   After breakfast we board the Isle of Man Railway taking you through Manx countryside to the popular resort of Port Erin where you will have some free time. We will then continue to Cregneash Folk Village which overlooks the Calf of Man, the village was one of the last strongholds of the Manx language and customs. See the Manx cottages where crofters lived, you might see Manx cats with no tails and four horned sheep. We continue our journey along the coast stopping at Castletown Capital of the Island until 1869 before returning to our hotel

Day 3:   Enjoy a free day in Douglas. Take a walk along the Victorian promenade, see the working harbour and shops or maybe visit the Manx Museum.

Day 4:   Today we board the Manx Electric Railway from Douglas to Laxey, home to the famous Laxey Wheel (Lady Catherine) we then catch the Snaefell mountain train to the summit of Snaefell where on a clear day six kingdoms can be seen, Isle of Man, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Heaven. Returning to Laxey we then take the Manx Electric Railway for to Ramsey where you will rejoin the coach.  We then travel across the island to Peel where you can spend the afternoon exploring this attractive resort before we return to our hotel.

Day 5: After breakfast we catch our ferry back to Heysham and continue our journey home with comfort breaks en-route

Day 1:   Leaving our local area, we travel northwards with a stop for lunch at Trentham gardens before continuing on to our hotel in Lancashire

Day 2:   Today enjoy a classic rail journey on the Settle to Carlisle Railway, which is considered the most scenic railway journey in England as it winds through moorland scenery and over the famous Ribblehead Viaduct. Spend some free time in Carlisle before rejoining the coach to travel back to our hotel for dinner.

Day 3:  Today we travel into Yorkshire to Skipton where we have a relaxing cruise along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal with tea/coffee and biscuits included, before spending some free time in Skipton with its popular Wednesday market.

Day 4:  After breakfast we travel into Lancashire for a guided tour of Samlesbury Hall a stunning stately home where the past meets the present enjoy intrigue, witchcraft and centuries of fascinating history, and then an afternoon at leisure in the ancient market town of Clitheroe in the Ribble Valley where you could visit the castle, museum or just enjoy the many independent shops and galleries in the  town centre.

SUMMERTIME IN SOMERSET

The ancient county of Somerset is at the heart of the West Country with its dramatic coastline, seaside resorts and beautiful English countryside. Somerset is also well known for the production of strong cider and famous cheeses.

The 4-star Mercure Bridgwater Hotel has an enviable location in the centre of Bridgwater a market town situated on the edge of the Somerset Levels. All floors are accessed via lifts, all rooms have air conditioning, tea/coffee making facilities satellite/cable colour TV. The hotel features a small but well equipped gym which guests can utilize.

Day 1:   We leave the local area making comfort  stop en-route  and a lunch stop in the historic small town of Lechlade which sits in an Area of Natural Beauty on the River Thames before reaching our hotel in time for our evening meal.

Day 2:   After breakfast we split out day between two traditional seaside resorts, Weston-super-mare and Burnham on Sea.   

Day 3: This morning we visit the West Somerset Railway and take a leisurely steam train journey through the Somerset countryside to Minehead were you have the day at leisure to explore the beaches, shops and gardens.

Day 4:  Today we spend the morning in the historic town of Glastonbury, a unique place with quirky shops and cafes and the Abbey is believed to be the burial place of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere. We stop at Cheddar Gorge on our way via the Mendip Hills to the Cathedral city of Wells the smallest City in England.

Day 5:   We have to leave Somerset after breakfast and make our way back home, arriving in our local area mid-late afternoon

A STATELY TOUR OF THE PEAK DISTRICT

This tour takes you into the heart of the glorious Peak District where we travel through scenic countryside to visit two stately homes as well as the famous “Dambuster” Ladybower Reservoir.

The modern and stylish Four Star Copthorne Hotel is situated just 1 mile from the centre of Sheffield, with a bar, restaurant and fitness centre.  All the en-suite bedrooms have TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. There is a lift to all floors although some steps may occur

Day 1:   Leaving the local area we travel north with a lunch stop at Burton upon Trent before continuing onto our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2:   This morning we visit the popular market town of Chesterfield, dominated by its famous crooked spire you are free to explore the shops and cafes. After lunch we travel to Chatsworth House in the heart of the peak district. There are many rooms to explore as well as a diverse art collection and famous gardens. Following our visit, we call in at the Chatsworth Farm Shop in the nearby village of Pilsley.

Day 3:   After breakfast, we travel to the thermal spa town of Buxton, home of Buxton Water and located in the centre of the Peak District, famous Georgian and Victorian architecture as well as stunning ornamental gardens provide the perfect place for some time at leisure. After lunch we continue on to the charming village of Castleton, known as the “Gem of the Peaks” we then continue our scenic drive enjoying the wonderful view of the Ladybower Reservoir, which along with the Derwent and Howden reservoirs , was made famous during World War II when it was used by the Dambusters RAF squadron to practice low level flying techniques.

Day 4:   We begin our morning at the Elizabethan country house of Hardwick Hall, we discover the stories of the Hardwick and enjoy the beautiful landscape it is set within. In the afternoon we visit the Grade I listed building of Reinshaw Hall and Gardens where we enjoy a guided tour of the magnificent building which has been home to the Sitwell family for over 350 years, and entry to the on-site museum

Day 5: After breakfast we begin our journey homewards

Day 2:  After breakfast we travel into Irvine for a tour of the award winning Scottish maritime museum, step back in time with a visit to a Tenement Flat a typical shipyard workers home and weather permitting experience life at sea on board MV Kyles the oldest Clyde-built vessel still afloat in the UK. You then have the rest of the day at leisure to explore Irvine a new town with a thousand years of history.

Day 3:   This morning we are heading to the picturesque village of Luss for a leisurely 90min cruise on Loch Lomond after the cruise you have some free time to explore this pretty conservation village with its sandstone and slate cottages, the village was the setting for the successful TV soap High Road. After lunch we visit the National Trust Geilston Gardens, a magical 200-year-old walled garden on the banks of the River Clyde.

Day 4:  Today after a leisurely breakfast we head to Troon for a morning of leisure in this popular coastal town overlooking the Isle of Arran with its long beach and promenade walks. After lunch we travel on down the coast to Ayr another popular seaside resort with charming sea front where we spend the afternoon before we return to our hotel for our evening meal

Day 5: After breakfast we make our way home with comfort breaks en-route before arriving in our local area, early evening.

LIVERPOOL & THE BEATLES STORY

Over recent years Liverpool has emerged as a world class tourist destination offering a real mix of culture and heritage and it’s also famously the hometown of the Beatles.

The afternoon is then free for you to explore the Docks before making your way back to the hotel. 

Day 3:   After a leisurely breakfast we travel to Crosby beach to see Anthony Gormleys world famous ‘Another Place’, 100 iron men sculptures that face towards the sea. We then continue onto Southport with a charming, unique style all of its own where you can spend the day at leisure. Take a stroll along the UK’s second longest pier with a traditional penny arcade. After lunch we travel back to our hotel so that you can spend the afternoon exploring Liverpool city centre.

Day 4:  This morning we travel across the Mersey to the Wirral to visit Port Sunlight a beautiful village and award winning tourist attraction boasting wide boulevards lined with charming cottages, the museum celebrates the unique heritage of Port Sunlight built by William Hesketh Lever to house his soap factory workers at Lever brothers. We then travel on to Ness Botanic Gardens where we spend the afternoon.

Day 5:  Departing after breakfast we start our homeward journey. We head for the northern end of the Peak District and climb Snake Pass and via the Derwent and Ladybower Reservoirs, on through Hathersage and stopping in Chesterfield for lunch before continuing our journey home.

After lunch we visit the stunning 15th century manor house and gardens at Athelhampton.

Day 3:   Enjoy a leisurely day in Weymouth

Day 4:   Today we are visiting Burrow Farm Gardens, East Devons Secret Garden with 13 acres of lovingly designed garden. Afterwards we travel onto visit the ‘Pearl of Dorset’ the historic coastal resort of Lyme Regis, which is close to the Devon border, to spend the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 2:   Today, after a leisurely breakfast you are free to enjoy a day of leisure in Waterford, capital of Irelands sunny South East and Irelands oldest City. Wander through Waterford’s Viking Triangle visit the home of Waterford Crystal, nine national monuments, an underground wine vault, 3 museums as well as an array of craft studios, cafes and gift shops. 1,000 years of history unfold in just 1,000 paces in this compact and authentically charming City

Day 3:   This morning we visit Woodstock Gardens & Arboretum, for a guided tour of the restored Victorian gardens one of Irelands finest located in picturesque Inistioge. After lunch we make the short journey to New Ross where we visit the Dunbrody Famine Ship one of the premier tourist attractions in the South East of Ireland. It provides a world-class interpretation of the famine emigrant experience. The rest of the afternoon you have at leisure to explore the stunning and historical medieval town of New Ross.

Day 4:   After breakfast we travel to Kilkenny a well-preserved medieval town, with many original features. Sit back and relax on the Kilkenny Road Train as it makes its way through the narrow streets to reveal the abbey, cathedral and many other highlights. You are then free to explore the town at your leisure.

Day 5:  Due to an early start to catch the ferry home, breakfast this morning will be on board the ferry as we travel to Pembroke, continuing our journey home making comfort stops along the way.

Kent has long been known as “the Garden of England’ with its manicured landscapes, beautiful public gardens and elegant country estates bursting with fascinating history. Kent is home to more castles, stately homes and gardens than any other area in Britain.

The Clifton Hotel is situated in the centre of the famous Leas and offers spectacular views of the English Channel. The Clifton Hotel is a traditional Victorian style hotel dating back to 1864. All rooms are comfortably furnished with Wi-Fi, TV, radio, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities.

Day 1:   We take a leisurely drive to Kent stopping en-route at Tea Pot Island for a short break before reaching our hotel in plenty of time to relax before your evening meal.

Day 2:   After breakfast we visit Sissinghurst Castle, a ruin of an Elizabethan manor house, where a famous garden was created in the 1930’s. We then visit Hole Park Gardens one of the best-known gardens in Kent.

Day 3:   Today we spend the day at leisure to enjoy all that Folkestone has to offer. Take time to stroll along the Lea’s Folkestone’s unique clifftop promenade.

Day 4:  This morning we visit the historic town of Sandwich, the many ancient buildings make Sandwich one of the best-preserved medieval towns in England. After lunch we travel back to the coast to Deal one of the prettiest seaside towns in Kent.

Day 5:  Time to head homewards after breakfast but we will stop for some free time in Rochester on the way.

AUTUMN GETAWAY – ISLE OF WIGHT

Sandown sits on the Southern coast of the Isle of Wight, sheltered in a beautiful bay, and is famed for its long stretches of golden sandy beach and the traditional British seafront and its traditional pier.

The Bayshore Hotel is superbly situated on the sea front, opposite the pier and close to the shops. The Sun Lounge, Bar and Dining room all overlook the Sea. All rooms are ensuite, with  TV, hair dryer, tea/coffee making facilities. There is a lift which serves all floors (a few stairs on split level floor).

Day 1:   Leaving our local area we travel to the south coast for our ferry crossing then onto our hotel in good time for dinner.

Day 2:   This morning after breakfast we visit Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s magnificent seaside residence. In the afternoon we visit Ryde on of the UK’s original seaside destinations and much loved by Queen Victoria.

Day 3:   After a leisurely breakfast spend the day in Sandown. Take a walk around the bay along the miles of sandy beaches, along the pier or around the shops.

Day 4:   Today we take a tour of the island, starting at Godshill with its pretty thatched cottages and famous model village, then on to the Pearl Factory near Brightstone, and the Needles at Alum Bay, we stop at nearby Yarmouth for lunch. We then venture across the island to Newport in the centre of the island and often referred to as the capital and then over the downs to Brading one of the island’s oldest towns.

Day 5: After breakfast we depart on our homeward journey via ferry, with a lunch stop in Winchester

Blackpool is probably, the most well-known and liveliest resort of them all with an abundance of attractions for all ages. The world famous illuminations transform The Tower and seafront into a magical world of light and colour the full length of the Golden Mile.

The Queens Hotel is perfectly situated on the seafront between the Central and South Piers, a short walk from the Pleasure Beach and the spectacular Sandcastle Water Park. PIES, PINTS, POTS AND PUDDINGS

This tour takes you into 4 counties of the Midlands the centre of England, we will be visiting Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire

Our hotel for the weekend is the Jurys Inn in Nottingham, situated a short walk from The Old Market Square which features a variety of shops. The modern spacious bedrooms have a flat screen tv, spa toiletries, hair dryer and air conditioning. Tea and coffee making facilities and free Wi-Fi. The hotel also features an all-day Costa coffee bar.

Day 1:   Leaving our local area and making comfort breaks we head on into Staffordshire for a tour of the famous Wedgewood pottery factory. After lunch we continue our journey onto our hotel in Nottingham.

Day 2:   Today, after breakfast we head into Derbyshire to the pretty town of Bakewell best known for its unique and delicious pudding. After lunch we continue onto the Denby Pottery Village and Factory Shop, the site was founded by the Bourn family and has been making pottery for over 200 years.

Day 3:   This morning after breakfast we are off to Staffordshire to visit the National Brewery Centre, where famous brands like IPA and Red Shield are produced. We take a guided tour around this historic museum culminating in a beer tasting session where you get to sample some of the award winning ales brewed on site. The rest of the day you have at leisure in Burton upon Trent

THE FRENCH RIVIERA

The French Riviera or Cote d’Azur is the popular coastline that stretches from the Italian border to St Tropez. Saint Aygulf where our hotel is found, has a prime location beside the beach, close to Frejus and Saint Raphael. The area is renowned for its stylish resorts and favourable climate, perfect for growing citrus fruits.

Day 1:   Leaving our local area we make the short channel crossing to France where we spend the first night in Dijon at the Hotel Kyriad Dijon Est Mirande, all rooms have private facilities and satellite TV.

Day 2:   Today we continue our journey onto Provence and then east to Saint Aygulf, for a 5 night stay at the Hotel St Aygulf which offers lovely views of St Raphael Bay and the beach is only a few steps away. Rooms are comfortably furnished and all with television and private facilities. The hotel has a lift, bar, garden and terrace.

Day 3:  Today is a day at leisure, enjoy the beach, stroll along the promenade or around the harbour.

Day 4:  After breakfast we drive to Monte Carlo which is packed with wonderful sights a walk along the Avenue Saint Martin is a good place to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the views from the cliff-side gardens and no trip is complete without a stroll around the harbour where million dollar yachts rest. After lunch we travel to Nice Capital of the French Riviera and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

Day 5: This morning we have a short journey to the charming coastal village of Port Grimaud, known as the ‘Venice of Provence’, we then continue onto the celebrated town of St Tropez renowned as home to the jet set.

Day 6: Today we travel into the mountains stopping at the picturesque towns of St Paul de Vence one of the oldest medieval towns on the French Riviera and Grasse the center of the French perfume industry where we visit the Fragonard perfume factory and shop.

Day 7:  We depart the French Riviera today and travel back to Dijon for an overnight stay in the Hotel Kyriad Dijon Est Mirande

Day 8:  After the channel crossing to Dover we make our way home with comfort stops en-route before arriving at our local area.

Day 1:   We begin our journey north making comfort breaks and a stop for lunch in Uttoxeter before we reach our hotel in good time for our evening meal.

Day 2:   Today we travel to Ravenglass, the only coastal village in the Lake District National Park, where we board the Ravenglass & Eskdale train for a return journey crossing spectacular scenery through the hills to Dalegarth – we then take a short drive to Muncaster Castle dating from the medieval age and has been home to the Pennington family for over 800 years, the Hawk & Owl centre is well worth a visit while you’re here.

Day 3:   Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and spend the day in Kendal, famous for its Mint Cake. This thriving town has a good variety of shops, shopping arcade and markets.

Day 4:   This morning we head to the popular lakeside town of Bowness-on-Windermere a sprawling town on the shores of lake Winderemere where the Victorian influence can be seen everywhere, you have time at leisure to explore the town or take a ferry ride on the lake. After lunch we travel on to the beautiful village of Cartmel, its village square is home to a14th century gatehouse, old shops and pubs. There is also a 12th century priory, for which the village is famous.

Day 5:  After breakfast we begin the journey home making comfort breaks and stopping for lunch and some free time at Trentham Shopping Village.

We return to our hotel to prepare for our evening meal which will be followed by Party Night with optional fancy dress competition.

Shanklin is beautifully situated on the cliffs bordering the South East coast of the Isle of Wight and is sheltered to the west by high-lying downs, the town is split with the old village lying on the cliff top and the new village nestled close to the sea, the two are connected by a cliff lift.

The Shanklin Hotel is one of the best-known hotels on the island and is situated in Shanklin town with superb views from its magnificent Starlite restaurant. Shanklin Old Village is a few minutes’ walk away.
